2022 is slated to be a great year for book releases. There are so many good books from old and new voices that are certain to be knockout reads including sequels to some of my favorite reads of 2021. Here are the 10 books I am most excited to get my hands on this year!
Daughter of the Moon Goddess by Sue Lynn Tan
This fantasy debut is inspired by the legend of the Chinese moon goddess that is supposed to be the perfect book for fans of A Court of Thorns and Roses and The Night Circus. The first in a new duology, the story follows Xingyin as she fights to free her mother and finds herself pitted against the most powerful immortals in the realm. And if that isn't a recipe for an amazing book, I don't know what is. Daughter of the Moon Goddess releases January 11th and you won't want to miss it!
The Daughter of Doctor Moreau by Silvia Moreno-Garcia
Silvia Moreno-Garcia can do no wrong in my eyes and she has become one of my auto-buy authors. Her newest book slated for release in July 2022 proves to be no different. The Daughter of Doctor Moreau is a reimagining of The Island of Doctor Moreau set in 19th century Mexico. The concept sounds so intriguing and we all know Silvia Moreno-Garcia can deliver.
Book of Night by Holly Black
Another author that I will never say no to is Holly Black and her newest novel is one of my most anticipated reads of the year. Her debut into adult fantasy, Book of Night is a modern dark fantasy filled with shadow thieves and secret societies that is perfect for fans of Ninth House. My excitement for this book is unmatched and I cannot wait for May!
Book Lovers by Emily Henry
Book Lovers is a bit of an odd ball on this list as I usually stick to the fantasy genre, but we all need a good, classic romance every once and a while. I loved Beach Read and People We Meet on Vacation by Henry, so when her newest book was announced, I knew it would be a must read for me. And if I know anything about Emily Henry's writing, this is sure to be a fun and bubbly read with just the right amount of depth and spice. Book Lovers releases May 3 and may just be the perfect book to start out your summer reading.
Bloodmarked by Tracy Deonn
Bloodmarked is the highly anticipated sequel to Legendborn, one of my favorite reads of 2020. After Tracy Deonn's action packed debut, Bloodmarked is sure to not pull any punches. I'm so excited to catch up with Bree and the gang and to see what Deonn does with this amazing reimagining of the legend of King Arthur.
A Far Wilder Magic by Allison Saft
I'm always looking for new fantasy Standalones and this one is sure to be a knockout. A Far Wilder Magic is a sweeping love story set in what is sure to be a well fleshed out fantasy world. When Margaret Welty and Weston Winters join forces to compete in the Halfmoon Hunt, both have too much to loose and too much to prove. This story is sure to be uniquely magical when it releases on March 8th.
These Twisted Bonds by Lexi Ryan
These Hollow Vows was one of my most surprising reads of 2021. I loved the twists and turns so I'm so excited to see how this duology is concluded. And if the sequel is anything like its predecessor, it is sure to be filled with romance, betrayal, mystery, and action. I'm so excited for it's release in July!
The Ballad of Never After by Stephanie Garber
Stephanie Garber is quickly moving up in the rank of my favorite authors. Her stories never cease to surprise me and draw me in with their magic and whimsy. Once Upon a Broken Heart was the first book I ever read by Stephanie Garber so, as you can probably imagine, I am eagerly awaiting its sequel. OUABH could best be described as a fairy tale soap opera and I'm sure its sequel is going to be just as whimsical and fun when it releases in September.
The Ivory Key by Akshaya Raman
This is the first installment of a new Indian-inspired duology that is sure to be a stunner. Magic is the only thing between peace and war. And when it runs out, four estranged royal siblings must come together to find a new source of power before their kingdom is destroyed by invading forces. I cannot wait for this story to release on January 4th!
The Bone Orchard by Sara A. Mueller
I read the synopsis for this story and knew I needed it immediately. In this gothic fantasy, a dying emperor charges his favorite concubine with solving his murder and preventing the culprit from taking control of the empire. But Charm has ghosts of her own and must chose between the emperor's wishes or her own revenge. The Bone Orchard releases on March 22 and is sure to be a page turner.
